What You'll Do
The Production Project Lead manages a variety of non-linear cross-functional projects in support of emerging and upcoming Production initiatives and/or process upsets. This role will lead production projects to include development and execution of planning, scheduling, and technical performance through final authorization of implementation. Will also serve as a rapid response action officer for emerging issues needing immediate technical leadership and direct all aspects from implementation of corrective actions, planning and scheduling. This position requires management of significant complex change initiatives in support of our continuous improvement culture. Significant interface within Y-12 Production organizations and including Programs, Engineering, Quality, and EP&C will be required.
The Project Lead Is Responsible For
- Management, planning, coordination and execution of complex changes within Y-12 Production, including initiatives that impact Conduct of Operations, process improvements and modernization, and new equipment installations.
- Coordinating special initiatives critical to the success of Y-12 Production Operations by forming, leading, and participating in teams to drive resolutions and successful implementations.
- Determination of project risks, capabilities, and proposed commitments.
- Identifying cross functional team members and leading the team through project completion.
- Interfacing with Program Managers and Production Integration to determine project risks, capabilities and propose commitments.
- Developing and presenting presentations supporting Y-12 Production project deliverables in support of Strategic Asset Management to various internal and external customers.
- Directing the development of technical solutions for customer requirements and ensures the technical specifications required for the customer are met.
- Performing assessments of operations, facilities, and processes to measure performance and identify deficiencies.
- Ability to work independently to resolve project issues.
- Responsibilities will include manufacturing and production processing changes including exercising tests, measurements, and advanced problem solving of production processes and equipment in support of efficient production success.
- Actively participating in Production improvement initiatives and integrating into the Value Stream Organizations seamlessly.
Accountabilities
- To the Production Project Lead Manager and Strategic Asset Management Director for the timely and thorough execution of duties to lead production initiatives.
- To the assigned Program Manager to ensure Program objectives remain on target with ongoing projects and work.
- To the assigned Production Manager for execution of oversight and improvement initiatives within their facilities.
- To the Production employees for the implementation and effective execution of projects that support the achievement of performance excellence.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- OR Master’s degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- OR PhD: No experience.
- Ten or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Two or more years in a nuclear or high hazard environment experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong project leadership in interdisciplinary functions as well as technical writing skills is strongly preferred.
- Leadership and/or significant support roles in a nuclear facility.
- Demonstrated ability to generate and provide high level briefings to internal and external entities is strongly preferred.
- Previous project management experience.
