Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking one full-time NH-1101-04 position, Deputy Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Nuclear Air Delivered (NAD)/Deputy Director (009456681M) for the Air Delivered Capabilities Directorate (ND) at the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. The NH-1101-04 position has a typical 2026 salary range of $107,446 – $164,301 (basic salary without locality included). Locality for Albuquerque-Santa Fe area is 18.33% of basic salary. The primary purpose of this Senior Materiel Leader (SML recertification pending) position is to serve as the Deputy Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Nuclear Air Delivered (DPAE NAD) and Deputy Director of the Air Delivered Capabilities Directorate as a supervisory acquisition program manager supporting the activities of Department of War (DoW) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) funded nuclear systems acquisition and sustainment efforts. The goals and objectives of the position are to enable the Air Delivered Capabilities mission to empower war fighter capability through effectively and efficiently integrating nuclear weapons & system requirements with resources to deliver operational capability for the Air Delivered leg of the US Nuclear Deterrent Triad. This mission is accomplished in consonance with Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC), Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), United States Air Force (USAF) and Department of War (DoW) directives. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in working effectively with multiple DoW, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, and private industry organizations. DUTIES:
- Provides advisory, supervisory, positive mentorship, and guidance to a directorate comprised of 300+ military and civilian personnel, six divisions across five operating locations. Plays a vital role in driving efficiency, optimizing performance, and achieving the PAE’s strategic objectives elevating the Center’s air delivered capabilities, ensuring the efficient execution of the air component of the US nuclear deterrence mission.
- Program Execution - Works with the designated staff in planning, organizing, and executing the activities of the assigned PAE portfolio. As deputy, exercises independent judgment, initiative and leadership in formulating, directing and evaluating policies and activities for the AF integrated life cycle management.
- Collaboration and Representation/Strategic Planning - Builds coalitions among, ensures effective communication with, and represents the PAE in executive level situations both internally and externally.
- Represents the organization with all levels of management, including functional counterparts, HQ AFMC, HAF/A10, USAF MAJCOMs and US COCOMs, USAF System Program Offices, DoW and other federal agencies, HQ DoE/NNSA, DoE National Laboratories, NATO/SHAPE, industry partners and academia.
- May serve as milestone decision authority for select programs.
- Serves as the directorate program management Organizational Senior Functional (OSF) providing career field mentorship and guidance and overseeing all program management recruiting, hiring, development, and recognition actions for the Directorate. SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the DoW acquisition management processes and initiatives.
- Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoW, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.
- Skill and ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing.
- Skill and ability to positively lead, mentor, motivate, appraise, supervise and work with subordinate supervisors, diverse teams, and non-supervisory employees.

- This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. Program Management Advanced will be required within applicable time limits. The employee is expected to meet Continuous Acquisition Education requirements, achieving 80 Continuous Learning Points every 24 months.
