What You'll Do
The Senior Manager, NMC&A Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Material Control, Technical and Measurement Support, and Accounting functions within the Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) department. This position is responsible for developing and implementing cohesive strategies to ensure the robust protection, control, and accurate accountability of special nuclear materials (SNM) in strict adherence with Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) requirements. The incumbent will lead and mentor diverse technical teams, drive continuous process improvement, and serve as a subject matter expert in resolving complex operational issues and discrepancies.
The successful candidate will lead the evaluation and coordination of significant site changes, including large-scale demolition and construction projects. The Senior Manager will develop and deploy adaptive strategies to ensure NMC&A infrastructure and processes are seamlessly integrated with evolving site modifications. This requires acting as a key liaison with site planning, construction, and operations teams to mitigate risks, ensure operational continuity, and transition through the site's changes to maintain control and accountability of its nuclear material inventory.
The Senior Manager ensures the effective planning, documentation, and implementation of processes for the protection, control, and inventory management of special nuclear materials. Serves as a subject matter expert in material control investigations and directs the analysis of material flows to ensure proper accountability. Ensures the validity and reliability of all special nuclear material quantification measurements. Directs the maintenance and evaluation of measurement equipment, oversees the department's computing infrastructure, and provides scientific and technical guidance on measurement physics and statistical analysis. Ensures the effective functionality of the nuclear material accounting system and accurate reporting to DOE headquarters. Oversees data integrity, directs material accounting and reconciliation processes, and coordinates with production and IT to ensure system requirements are met.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience. Minimum 5 years of management experience.
Preferred Job Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant security, NMC&A or operations experience, NMC&A or operations is desired.
- Experience/familiarity with Y-12 nuclear operations, nuclear material accounting system, handling/storage/processing of accountable nuclear materials, vulnerability assessments, and roll up evaluations is highly desirable.
- Must have prior experience in facilities and a general knowledge of plant facilities and operations.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface effectively with various clients (production and support organizations).
- Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
