SUMMARY: Plans, directs and coordinates process related engineering activities for EverZinc Operations in a safe and cost effective manner.
POSITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with all capital and major maintenance projects.
- Observes, analyzes and documents existing production processes and recommends design changes as needed.
- Carries out engineering activities as required to improve manufacturing operations, quality control, process control, safety, yields and pollution control.
- Ensure equipment and processes comply with all codes and regulations.
- Helps to develop and support practical and affordable engineering solutions for production problems and bottlenecks.
- Helps to establish and monitor compliance with engineering policies/ procedures for installation, modification, testing, and operation of new as well as existing equipment.
- Supervises major installations. Tests newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.
- Supervises outside contractors and employees involved in construction projects.
- Observes, analyzes, and documents various plant activities to determine and support “best practice” efforts.
- Responsible for periodic auditing of all assets to ensure that they properly run and are maintained.
- Leads continuous improvement process in all areas of plant operations. Develops technical improvements to improve recoveries.
- Manage the company Continuous Improvement Program.
- Develop and direct projects to improve process efficiency, throughput, and reduce conversion cost.
- Track performance versus budgeted cost savings goals.
- Utilizes production data captured to prioritize process improvements in efficiency.
- Provides data and analytic information and coaching to the teams and individuals who will drive the delivery of improvements.
- Registers, tracks and logs policies & procedures that pertain to production requirements.
- Ensures that the effectiveness of controls are monitored and/or frequently tested.
- Supports the full embedment of processes, including Key Performance Indicators (KPI) defined by the Business.
- Challenges existing processes to identify improvement opportunities using benchmarks and external best practices.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Excellent communication skills.
- Good computer skills including using Microsoft Office products. Experience with SAP a plus.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field from four year college or university and a minimum of five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding economies, business practices, operational and construction costs and practices, government regulations and multiple cultures.
- Economic and practical dynamics of the zinc business.
- Experience with multicultural workforce and environments.
- Strong working knowledge of inventory control systems.
- Knowledge of AutoCad a plus.
- Lean, Six Sigma.

- Travel is required about 40% of the time. Traveling can include and is not limited to the Tennessee Plants, Houston Corporate, and Houston Plants.
