What You'll Do
The Production Support Specialist directly supports production management in the execution and integration of production responsibilities within assigned production areas.
The Selected Production Support Specialist Is Responsible For
- Monitoring, coordinating, and resolving issues related to production schedules, and equipment/tooling availability
- Supporting pre-job/post-job and pre-shift/post-shift briefings
- Developing and refining operating and procedural practices including their associated documentation requirements
- Ensuring work is performed in compliance with procedures, policies and safety practices and meets expectations for quality and quantity of the work performed
- Performing other duties as assigned to provide leadership in maintaining safe working conditions, proactively preventing injuries, contaminations, and exposures, and supporting the safe, efficient, and effective flow of work within the area
- Representing Production Operations in identifying and resolving problems which impact product schedule or quality
- Participating in Value Stream Element (VSET) teams using Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, etc. for developing new or improved techniques, systems, processes or methods to improve productivity and eliminate waste
- Identifying/coordinating improvements such as 5S, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing techniques
- Supporting Production Operations management in liaison with bargaining unit employees, overtime management, training status, staffing actions, time entry/approval, and other personnel activities as requested
- Ensuring weekly activities are scheduled and any barriers to execution are resolved the week prior to execution
- Serving as a relief Supervisor as required
The Selected Production Support Specialist Is Accountable To
- To the Production Support Manager and crew supervisors for daily support of efficient, effective, and safe work execution within the production area
- To their assigned work crews and area supervisors for completion of tasks that support a safe and efficient work environment

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- OR Master’s degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- OR PhD: N/A
- OR Ten (10) or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
Preferred Job Requirements
- Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
- Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with deployment of Lean or Six Sigma principles and implementations
- Familiarization with SAP ME and its capabilities
- Knowledge of wet chemistry and metal production operations and their associated requirements
- Familiarity with general chemistry, production schedules, and maintenance activities
- A strong desire to improve and ability to motivate and work well with others
- Participation or Leadership of a process improvement team is preferred
