What You'll Do
The Waste Operations Technical position supports the Waste Operations organization, providing oversight of subcontractor projects/task releases.
Specific Duties Include
- Supports the STR in his/her role as the interface with the Waste Management Services subcontractor in the day-to-day execution of subcontract work.
- Serves as backup to the STR as needed, after appropriate training is completed.
- Provides technical support services to Waste Operations in the oversight of subcontractor projects/task releases.
- Receives Task Releases from Requestors and/or Waste Engineers, and ensures scope is written and communicated clearly.
- Performs and/or coordinates technical reviews of proposals and estimates – and works with the Task Release requestors to obtain approvals.
- Assembles required procurement documents and inputs Purchase Requisitions for Task Releases as needed, and follows up to ensure approval in a timely manner.
- Works with Task Release requestor, subcontract administrator, and STR to closeout Task Releases, de-ob remaining funds, and ensure files are appropriately maintained.
- Develops statements of work, reviews technical proposals, performs as the technical lead, and coordinates with the Subcontract Technical Representative for the execution of projects/task releases.
- Reviews subcontractor submittals (procedures, Activity Hazard Assessment documents, work packages, schedules, etc.) for accuracy with technical requirements as stipulated in the subcontract statement of work.
- Maintains a field presence in the execution of projects/task releases to ensure work is performed safely and according to approved documents and schedules.
- Perform maintenance oversight of the subcontractors to verify satisfactory completion of Preventative Maintenance Program and Corrective Maintenance per the statement of work.
- Chairs the weekly issues Task Release status meeting with subcontractor and CNS staff.
- Completes additional as-needed assignments as directed by the Waste Operations Manager.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. (Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.)
- OR Master's degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- OR PhD.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Experience performing oversight of light construction projects is desired.
- Familiarity with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), DOE 435.1 - Radioactive Waste Management, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), and related Tennessee requirements.
- Working knowledge of waste management (characterization, treatment, packaging, transportation and disposal) at Department of Energy nuclear facilities.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
