What You'll Do
This position will be responsible for the United States High Performance Research Reactor (USHPRR) Program within the Nuclear Material Applications (NMA) portfolio at the Y-12 National Security Complex (NSC) and will serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and for the NNSA NA-231 customer with responsibility for scope and budget. Responsible for planning and executing programmatic work scope supporting the fabrication of research reactor fuels associated with the Reduced Enrichment Research and Test Reactors (RERTR) Program. Monitors and reports project performance against the defined work scope, budget, schedule and addresses planned recovery actions needed to overcome performance and schedule issues. Effectively communicates all planned changes to the performance baseline to CNS internal organizations, external CNS customers and adjusts internal plans accordingly.
Establishes and leads integrated multi-discipline project teams within all affected CNS organizations to manage the execution of the defined work scope and develop solutions to complex problems or other technical issues that affect deliverables. Prepares technical documents, status reports, project/program presentations, and participate in technical/quality reviews. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs.
Directs and manages all phases of the USHPRR program while supporting additional program areas related to nuclear fuel cycle materials, as needed. The incumbent will also be required to develop proposals for future work from NNSA or other external customers. Domestic as well as foreign travel is required, as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- OR Master's degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in nuclear operations or nuclear fuel cycle facilities.
- OR Master’s degree: Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in nuclear operations or nuclear fuel cycle facilities.
- OR PhD: No Experience
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact, present and communicate with CNS Senior Management, NNSA, and other government customers on a regular basis. Successful experience in leadership of staff work is required.
- Program/project management or organizational management experience to effectively manage programs as it relates to fiscal responsibility, quality, and schedule compliance.
- Thorough knowledge of NNSA and CNS processes, policies and procedures; knowledge of functional organization interactions, processes and systems; and knowledge of financial/budgeting processes and systems.
- Knowledge of NNSA Nuclear Nonproliferation customers and programs and/or experience at one of the NA-20 NNSA HQ Program Offices in Washington, D.C.
- Experience in Department of Energy (DOE) or Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) special nuclear material handling facilities, especially facilities which handle and characterize research reactor fuels.
