What You'll Do
As a Senior Technical Advisor, you will lead teams of dedicated professionals passionate about delivering exceptional project outcomes and advancing our organization's mission.
In this role, you will drive culture change, champion commercial approach implementations across multiple organizations and subcontractors, and serve as a vital Subject Matter Expert (SME) from project planning through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Commercial Integration: Foster culture change to successfully implement commercial approaches across multiple internal organizations and subcontractors, spanning project planning through execution.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME): Provide deep commercial project and organizational expertise to guide cross-organizational design and construction teams.
- Drive Continuous Learning: Facilitate development sessions to educate internal teams on commercially available technologies and design innovations.
- Partner with Supply Chain: Identify opportunities to boost subcontractor interest and project success, assist with bidder qualification reviews, and facilitate value-negotiated contracts.
- Optimize Data & Integration: Minimize data gaps to improve organizational integration and streamline project execution.
- Facilitate Early Planning: Lead "programming" workshops between funding programs and end-user SMEs to clearly define project scope, schedule, and design requirements.
- Streamline Communications: Establish and maintain communication channels to improve critical data flow between organizations, enabling timely and consistent decision-making.
- Develop Dashboard Metrics: Help build and maintain inter-organizational dashboards to increase visibility on project metrics (active priorities, mission alignment, project health) and train teams to mitigate risks early.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an architectural or engineering/science discipline from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant commercial architectural or engineering experience.
Preferred Job Requirements
- A Professional Engineering {PE) License or licensed architect
- Knowledge of and experience in commercial engineering disciplines.
- Knowledgeable of Y-12 business and operations support, resources, practices, processes, and policies needed to solve problems and accomplish work
- Skills in effective planning, writing, organization, communication, schedule compliance, personnel management and design management
- Computer-literate and have good working knowledge of software tools that support engineering design activities including computer-aided design
- Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to various engineering disciplines
- Ability to apply technical skills of engineering to the design of facilities and/or appurtenances to facilities
- Ability to prepare, read, and/or interpret complex engineering drawings
- Ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties
- Ability to review projects for technical accuracy
- Ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word
