Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Project Coordinator and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide overall business support areas for the SIMCO Chief Financial Office, National TRU Program (NTP) Program Management Office. Activities support subcontract administration including tracking and maintenance of service subcontracts, tracking subcontract releases and funding, and preparation of purchase requisitions. Will review subcontract invoices for contract compliance, resource and funding requirements, accuracy and completeness prior to management review. Work with management to develop monthly subcontractor accruals/re-accruals.
Prepare supporting invoice documentation for NTP contracts that are funded by work for other projects. Independently coordinate and interface with NTP Managers, Contracts, Procurement, Accounting, and Project Integration organizations to support NTP projects and contracts, develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, resource management, and develop estimates in a fast paced environment. Support preparation of internal and external cost estimates for emerging or changing work, funds management and forecasts. Develop ad hoc reports cost and scenarios to support program objectives and to meet requirements of both internal and external customers.
Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree, or
- Associate’s degree with four (4) years of professional experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of professional experience is required.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the WIPP Site (even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge).
- Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries –are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
Preferred Requirements
- Working knowledge of the related business functions such as purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, project controls, and Earned Value Management System principles is considered a plus.
- Qualified Subcontract Technical Representative is a plus.
- Previous experience in an M&O governmental accounting, contracts, or project controls environment.
- Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Exempt grade level(s) 26-30. Salary range: $62,007 to $123,573 per year - the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
