What You'll Do
Production Stores Line Driver
Responsible for the safe, secure, and timely transportation of highly sensitive and hazardous materials, including nuclear explosives, special nuclear material, high explosives, and weapon components within zone 12 Material Access Area (MAA). This work is performed in strict accordance with all established Nuclear Explosive Safety protocols and other governing regulations. The position's primary purpose is to directly support critical national security missions by ensuring these materials, along with associated support equipment like special tooling carts and compressed gas cylinders, are handled and moved with meticulous precision and adherence to procedures, utilizing MAA approved electric forklift.
Essential Job Duties
- Transportation of:
- Nuclear Explosives
- Special Nuclear Material (SNM), High Explosives
- Warehouse material and Special Tooling carts Explosive Transportation Cart-I, Explosive Transportation Cart-II, High Explosive Transportation Cart(ETC-I, ETC-II, HETC)
- Compressed gas cylinders in approved restraints
- Able to identify and utilize special tooling attachments specific to Nuclear Explosive being transported
- SNM tiedown and load securement protocols
- Required to successfully complete QC 1003.46 (Line Driver qualification card)
- Exceptional knowledge of Technical Safety Requirements and Procedures related to transport and handling of Nuclear Explosives in Zone 12 MAA
- Aware of Zone 12 MAA ramps/corridors and route restrictions for specific hazards
- Frequent entry to bays/cells for material move verification
- Records, verifies, and maintains all necessary paperwork to accomplish job assignments.
- Performs assignments with a high degree of quality and efficiency exercising prescribed safety and security measures.
- Works harmoniously with co-workers, representatives of other Departments/Divisions, and outside agencies.
- Responsible for housekeeping and cleanliness of assigned area and equipment.
- Maintains necessary forms and records essential to accomplishing assigned responsibilities.
- Responsible for care and protection of assigned material and equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy (DOE), Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Technical Training Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and Management.
- Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
- Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel their own or other’s personal safety is jeopardized.
- Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.
Skills And Minimum Qualificiations - Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above.
- Must meet initial employment requirements.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.
- Must be physically fit to perform job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation.
- All qualifications, work history, training, and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
- Must have relevant experience operating a Forklift.
- Internal Candidates :
- Minimum of three (3) year work experience as Material Handler, Hazmat Transporter, Expediter at Pantex.
- Current forklift license. OR
- External Candidates :
- Minimum five (5) years of experience which included assignments involving forklift operation as a significant part of the job.
- Current forklift license.
- Must successfully complete a Self-Assessment.*

Education
- High School diploma or (GED) General Education Development.
DOE Order 426.2A Requirements
- In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)

Requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP, the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position.
