The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management (OREM) is now accepting applications for the Science Education and Internship Program (SEIP): Business & Contracting Fellow (Reference Code: DOE-OREM-SEIP-2026-BCF).
This is a paid 2-year fellowship opportunity for students and recent graduates interested in business, finance, contracting, project controls, and federal operations—supporting one of the nation’s largest environmental cleanup and revitalization efforts at the Y‑12 National Security Complex and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
What Fellows Will Do:
Participants will receive mentorship and hands-on experience in:
- Contract awards and procurement
- Project budgeting and scheduling
- Project controls and quality assurance
- Business operations and financial management
- Real estate and personal property oversight
- Organizational culture and performance improvement
Fellows learn directly from federal staff in OREM’s:
- Planning and Execution Division
- Quality and Mission Support Division
- Procurement and Contracts Division
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Be currently enrolled in or have graduated (within the last 24 months) from an accredited institution
- Be pursuing or have completed a degree in:
- Business
- Computer, Information, or Data Sciences
- Mathematics/Statistics
- Risk Analysis or related disciplines
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Background in business, accounting, or finance
- Proactive and deadline-driven work style
