Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities
The Quality Assurance organization is in search of a highly qualified Senior Quality Assurance specialist to support ongoing and planned projects and missions for the NNSS.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and administration of a significant portion of the Quality Assurance Program.
- Assist in supporting operational and project implementation and compliance with quality codes and standards through assessments, surveillance, and integrated project management.
- Work with peers, supervisors, and management in operations, projects, engineering, and procurement to advise on quality matters and to ensure that procedures, work practices, and subcontracts comply with quality requirements.
- Aid with the corrective action process for programmatic issues and the nonconformance process for non-conforming items, ensuring that corrective actions are identified, reviewed, approved, and implemented.
- Work with senior management, project managers, program managers, and engineers to ensure appropriate quality requirements are incorporated into procurement requisitions and engineering specifications.
- Contributed to quality activities related to procurement, project management, safeguards, and security.
- Maintain awareness and training on quality standards and procedures as they are applied to applicable work responsibilities particularly within projects.
- Assist in preparation of long-range plans and in implementation of quality support for new missions and projects.
- Promote quality assurance understanding for personnel in satellite locations as well as local organizational units.
- Assist in development and presentation of quality training programs as well as mentoring others in quality activities.
- Evaluate material and equipment requisitions to ensure they are designed to incorporate appropriate quality standards and codes.
- Conduct quality research, data compilation, and data analysis.
- Support the design or development of quality implementing documents or processes are designed so that work is executed in a disciplined manner and complies with laws, codes, orders, and policies and procedures.
- Develop solutions for a range of complex problems and issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to the position or equivalent training and experience and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with quality assurance requirements documents that include 10 CFR 830, DOE/NNSA Weapons Quality Policy NAP 401, ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, DOE Order 414, and ISO 17025.
- Experience with projects and project management highly desired.
- Ability to work under limited direction.
- Able to utilize independent judgment, creativity, initiative, and ability to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and compose technical correspondence and reports and accomplish goals where established procedures may not be specific.
- Must be highly organized and able to prioritize and schedule multiple activities and work assignments.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner while screening and maintaining confidentiality.
- High degree of accuracy required in writing technical documents and ensuring company policies and procedures are followed.
- Knowledge of warehouse receiving, material control, and receiving inspection operations to include planning, verification, and supervising others in the performance of verification activities is desirable.
- Ability to interpret the results of inspections of procured items in accordance with documented procedures, acceptance standards, and/or industry practices.
- Must possess intermediate computer skills with company software applications and an understanding of software quality assurance.
- Able to utilize independent judgement, creativity, initiative, and ability to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and compose technical correspondence.
- Ability to obtain various quality and cause analysis qualifications is required.
- The primary work location will be the North Las Vegas facility but will be required to conduct work activities at remote locations including the NNSS which is 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
- Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2 , “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709 , “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is:
$98,883.20 - $148,324.80.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
