Job Title: Material Testing Lab Technician
What You'll Do
- Performs tests in Physical Testing areas of metallography, physical and mechanical testing,and nondestructive testing utilizing defined techniques and procedures.
- Performs a variety of tests and inspections on various types of equipment utilizing a broad range of test equipment.
- Sets up, calibrates, operates, and troubleshoots equipment and instrumentation for complex tests, inspections, and experiments.
- Uses ADP equipment to operate test equipment and acquire data.
- May support technical staff with special studies, evaluations or development activity with only general direction and no written procedures.
- Performs calculation, analyzes data, evaluates and interprets results of tests and inspections to determine acceptance or rejection of materials to specific conditions.
- May design data processing programs to assist in data analysis.
- Prepares written reports on tests and inspections.
- Presents papers and oral reports to customers and management personnel.
- Explains test results and interpretation to management, auditors, and customers.

Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma with a minimum of six years of relevant experience.
- OR an associate's degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
Preferred Job Requirements
- Experience with vibration testing, ultrasonic examination, or mechanical properties testing.
- Ability to set up and calibrate equipment, interpret and evaluate test results with respect to applicable ASNT and ASTM codes, standards, and specifications.
- Knowledge with Metallography chemicals, hazardous materials, and mixed waste
