What You'll Do
The Production Operations Advisor Will
- Serve as a senior technical resource to the director level and up.
- Be transitional between IMIS (Integrated Machine Installs and Startup) and Production Operations.
- Provide specific technical guidance and leadership of organizational activities, including activities across all operating elements, addressing issues that are cross-cutting and require division or company level solutions.
- Significantly impacts the organization’s ability to technically evolve, meet customer requirements, gain efficiency, and operate safely.
- Demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature technical judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented technical problems, determining program objectives and requirements, and developing standards and guides for diverse activities.
- Cultivates organizational input to anticipate and plan resource needs for current and future activities.
- Applies appropriate and effective tools for project management to ensure timely, effective, and efficient execution of Division-level initiatives.
- Represents the Division on special project teams in a diversity of subject areas; establishes and leads multi-discipline teams; obtains buy-in on execution plans and schedules from organizations involved in work; motivates team members with a clear understanding of the strategic importance of assigned work.
- Employs special tools and techniques as appropriate, i.e. project management, operational analysis, employee development, nuclear criticality safety, etc.
- Develops and maintains customer and stakeholder relationships, including CNS Program Managers, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) counterparts, NNSA Production Office (NPO) and Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) personnel, Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), national laboratories, and other Government customers in order to understand and support evolving customer objectives.
- Influences all levels of technical, managerial, and executive-level employees as well as extensive interaction with technical experts externally and within the DOE complex.
- Communicates and coordinates information sharing across the DOE complex.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
- OR Master’s degree: Minimum 10 years of experience.
- OR PhD: Minimum 6 years of experience.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
Preferred Job Requirements
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and PowerPoint.
- Previous Management experience required.
- Knowledgeable of Y-12 business and operations support, resources, practices, processes, and policies needed to resolve issues and accomplish work is preferred.
- Must be able to apply a comprehensive and advanced knowledge to the completion of complex assignments in the field of specialization, and apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
- Must be able to contribute to the development of new principles and concepts.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to interface with all levels of personnel and management within Y-12 and NNSA.
- Must be able to work independently within a diverse organization.
- Requires effective oral and written communication skills, strong leadership skills, and ability to facilitate accomplishment of objectives across organization boundaries.
- Requires good presentation skills.
- Must have planning and scheduling capabilities.
- Requires the ability to prioritize and manage competing and multiple priorities, maintain flexibility and adapt to change.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
