What You'll Do
Serves as Counterintelligence Officer for Pantex Field Office, Counterintelligence Directorate, Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, Department of Energy ( DOE), supporting the protection of critical national assets and capabilities from foreign intelligence and transnational terrorist threats.
Key Responsibilities
Threat Assessment and Advisory Services
- Provide expert counterintelligence advice to programs and personnel on threats posed by foreign intelligence entities, including espionage, sabotage, subversion and unahtorized technology transfer
- Conduct threat assessments and vulnerability analysis of programs, facilities, technologies and operations
- Brief leadership and workforce on evolving threat landscapes and recommended countermeasures
Investigations and Operations
- Conduct counterintelligence investigations into suspected foreign intelligence collection activities, insider threats, supply chain subversion and sabotage
- Prepare comprehensive investigative reports and case documentation
- Coordinate and conduct inquiries, interviews and other activities in accordance with DOE policy and legal guidelines
Interagency Coordination
- Conduct liaison and cordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other Intelligence Community Partners
- Coordinate counterintelligence activities and information sharing with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies
- Support joint investigations and support to other agencies as required
Program Support
- Review foreign travel, contact and international collaboration proposals for counterintelligence concerns
- Advise on counterintelligence aspects of personnel security, cyber security, physical security and supply chain risk management programs
- Maintain awareness of site operations, research programs and emerging technologies requiring protection
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- PhD.
- OR Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 12 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Graduate of United States (US) Government counterintelligence credentialling course
- Minimum 3 years conducting counterintelligence investigations
- Knowledge of investigative techniques, case documentation, preservation of evidence, interviewing, and liaison w/ U.S. government (USG) agencies
- Knowledge of counterintelligence principles and methodologies
- Understanding of foreign intelligence threats, tactics, techniques and procedures
- Strong analtyical and critical thinking capabilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in conducting interviews
- Ability to handle sensitive information with appropriate discretion

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
