What You'll Do
The SAP Basis & Security Supervisor is responsible for technical oversight and coordination of SAP platform operations, including Basis and SAP Security functions. This role provides hands-on technical leadership for a team of approximately eight experienced administrators and serves as the technical escalation point for complex SAP platform issues.The position combines direct technical contribution with supervisory responsibilities, including work coordination, technical guidance, mentoring, and standards enforcement. The Supervisor partners closely with application teams, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and project leadership to ensure SAP systems are reliable, secure, and aligned with enterprise objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Supervision
- Provide day-to-day technical supervision and coordination for SAP Basis and Security administrators.
- Assign and prioritize work, review technical solutions, and ensure adherence to established standards and best practices.
- Serve as the technical escalation point for SAP platform issues.
SAP Platform Operations
- Oversee the administration, availability, performance, and scalability of SAP environments.
- Lead or directly participate in SAP installations, upgrades, system copies, patches, and migrations.
- Ensure SAP systems comply with cybersecurity, audit, and IT governance requirements.
Architecture & Strategic Support
- Contribute to SAP platform roadmaps, modernization efforts, and long-term technical planning.
- Partner with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity teams to align SAP technical design with organizational standards.
- Evaluate new SAP technologies and recommend improvements to system reliability and operational efficiency.
Project & Operational Support
- Provide technical leadership during SAP-related projects, deployments, and infrastructure changes.
- Coordinate cross-functional technical activities during major system changes or incidents.
- Ensure documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures are current and consistently applied.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with five (5) or more years of relevant SAP Basis or enterprise systems experience.
- Thirteen (13) or more years of progressive education, training, and professional experience in SAP Basis, enterprise systems, or platform administration may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Job Requirements
SAP Platform & Technical Expertise
- Extensive experience administering SAP systems, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management (ECC, NetWeaver, SAP HANA).
- Experience supporting SAP landscapes across multiple environments (development, test, production).
- Strong working knowledge of SAP HANA administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Minimum five (5) years of Unix/Linux system administration experience in enterprise environments.
Supervisory & Technical Leadership
- Experience coordinating or supervising senior technical staff, including work prioritization and technical review.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction, mentorship, and standards enforcement without formal managerial authority.
- Experience acting as a technical escalation point for complex or high-impact system issues.
Architecture, Integration & Modern Practices
- Experience contributing to SAP platform architecture decisions, including ECC and S/4 landscapes.
- Familiarity with ABAP fundamentals, UI5/Fiori, and SAP development tools sufficient to support and troubleshoot development activities.
- Experience with scripting and automation (Python, shell scripting).
- Knowledge of ITIL concepts, service management, and enterprise change processes.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and infrastructure automation practices.
Communication & Collaboration
- Ability to work effectively with Business Process Owners, Technical Leads, Cybersecurity, and Project Management teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and technical guidance for diverse audiences.
Additional Preferred Experience
- Exposure to SAP Security concepts (roles, authorizations) or experience working alongside SAP Security administrators.
- Experience interfacing with and managing the lifecycle of other enterprise applications.
- Background in enterprise system integration and cross-platform troubleshooting.
