Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities
MSTS is seeking a self-driven, and highly motivated Work Planner I to join our Construction Planning Team within the Construction & Services Planning department within the Infrastructure Work Planning Division. The position will report to the Construction Planning Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- The primary role of the Work Planner I is to develop Activity Level Work Control Documents (ALWCDs) to support construction work across the NNSS.
- Conduct job walkdowns and tabletop reviews: Engage in job site walkdowns and tabletop reviews alongside requestors and subject matter experts to help develop scopes of work and discuss job details.
- Support hazard identification and job hazard analysis: Contribute to identifying potential hazards and assist in job hazard analysis to ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are incorporated into work documents.
- Coordinate Permits and Safety Plans: Aid in obtaining necessary permits and safety plans, integrating them into assigned ALWDS.
- Collaborate with Cross Functional Teams: Interface with Construction Management, Engineering, Project Managers, Superintendents, Craft Personnel, and Environmental Safety and Health (ESH&Q), to obtain Subject Matter Expert (SME) input for ALWCD development.
- Identify Training Requirements: Help determine skill-of-the-worker activities and initial training required for assigned ALWDs.
- Use IBM Maximo to plan, status and record work.
- Facilitate Document Reviews: Coordinate ALWD reviews and disposition SME comments identified during work planning and review process.
- Support Document Approvals: Ensure all necessary approvals from SME’s are obtained for ALWCDs.
- Provide Status Updates: Report on forecasts and maintain status updates for assigned work packages to planning supervisor.
- Assist in tracking and coordinating document changes to aid in change control and revision history.
- Adhere to Institutional Processes: Perform work planning according to the institutional work planning process(es).
- Obtain and Maintain planner qualifications and training requirements.
- Attend Meetings: Attend and contribute to functional organization meetings as identified.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent training and experience.
- Previous construction experience is desired.
- Ability to use personal computer, printers, copiers, scanners, telephones, fax machines, calculators, and other general office equipment.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Software Suite (Word, Excell, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction and follow through on all assignments.
- Ability to plan/organize work to completion in an efficient manner, meeting required deadlines.
- Knowledge of basic math, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- The primary work location will be in the forward area at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- Position may require regular travel to other areas located further into the NNSS, and/or North Las Vegas.
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must have a valid driver's license.

Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘
Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Hourly salary range for this position is: $25.50 - $38.25.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
