What You'll Do
Y-12 Operational Psychologists perform comprehensive psychological evaluations for individuals working in safety and security sensitive positions at the Y-12 National Security Complex, managed by Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC. Psychological evaluations performed are mandated by federal regulation, and consist of a mental status evaluation, cognitive screening, personality testing, and a semi-structured interview. Additional psychological evaluations include fitness-for-duty evaluations and other “for cause” evaluations. Examples of “for cause” evaluations include management referrals and post-incident assessments. On occasion, employees self-refer for consultation, assessment, and recommendations.
The Successful Applicant Will
- Participate in weekly case review meetings and complete additional quality control and administrative duties.
- Become a member of Y-12’s Occupational Health Services (OHS) department and will provide consultative services to fellow staff members, employee groups, and the general employee population.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Doctoral degree in clinical psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA accredited doctoral program, and licensure in good standing or eligibility for licensure as a clinical psychologist in the State of Tennessee (Health Service Provider). The successful applicant must provide a copy of a valid licensure to practice as a clinical psychologist in the State of Tennessee (T.C.A. 63-11-201) or another state as applicable.
- Minimum of three years post-doctoral experience.
- Exceptional skills in clinical assessments, preferably in an occupational setting.
- Ability to attain and sustain a DOE security clearance at the Q-Level and DOE Designated Psychologist certification.
- Ability to submit a curriculum vitae and verification of Tennessee State Licensure as applicable.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Experience in an occupational setting is desired.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712), which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
