What You'll Do
The LIMS Administrator will operate within the Analytical Chemistry Department (ACO) division of Y12. The LIMS platform is a critical component of our IS infrastructure, allowing the lab to operate efficiently and deliver sample results in support of the mission. As a key part of ACO’s strategy focusing on digital platforms, this role will focus on maintaining and managing the existing ACO LIMS system and associated database. The role will also assist with the new LIMS implementation project in order to improve on the management of samples and data that touches all aspects of the Y12 complex. The successful candidate will be technically minded, have good attention to detail, possess excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of developing productive, customer-centric working relationships with colleagues, customers, suppliers, and partners.
Employee Core Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact (POC) for existing LIMS system and databases
- Troubleshoot system or data issues
- Support laboratory staff with system-related inquiries
- Develop, test, implement & maintain LIMS, LIMS modules and templates
- Monitor LIMS performance and implement approved suggestions for optimizing performance
- Perform more complex configuration of laboratory information systems
- Create and modify master data
- Manage user accounts while ensuring compliance with enterprise systems
- Gain a detailed understanding of the LIMS system and its maintenance requirements
- Gain an understanding of how to configure and maintain the new LIMS system

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, related sciences, or Information Technology/Computer Science discipline. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical relevant experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.
- OR Master’s degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. Typical relevant experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.
- OR 10 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Experience in software/database development and maintenance
- Experience with coding methodologies such as Visual Basic, PL/SQL, SQL, Microsoft Access
- Experience in system testing, troubleshooting and master data management with an ability to troubleshoot production uses icluding root cause analysis
- Capable of working across functions within a multidisciplinary environment while assisting members of analytical teams
- Able to manage own workload while being able to organize and prioritize daily tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills
- LIMS system configuration skills (build, edit, test and manage LIMS activities)
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Be capable of working autonomously with strong self-management and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- 10 years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Strong working knowledge of laboratory processes
- Proficient in SQL
- Strong understanding of relational databases
- Experience with LabWare/Autoscribe Matrix Gemini
- Experience working in a regulated environment
- Experience in the use and administration of a LIMS system
- Experience in LabWare LIMS including at a minimum completion of LabWare LIMS Admin I training
