What You'll Do
Conducts daily support to line management and the RADCON Field Operations section through radiation hazard analysis and technical review of operations and radiological monitoring activities. Monitors exposure trends, dose rates, and contamination levels and provides feedback to management on the status of the program as necessary. Conducts ALARA reviews to analyze radiation hazards and to determine the need for appropriate engineering/administrative controls when predetermined review thresholds are met. Investigates internal and external dose exposures to determine the nature of intakes and likely causes of exposures to personnel. Assists in the development of policies, technical bases, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulation and standards. Performs radiological engineering design reviews of new facilities/equipment or for modifications to facilities/equipment to ensure doses will be maintained ALARA. Conducts evaluations of existing radiation detection instrumentation and associated procedures/instructions for calibration as needed. Participates on audits of the RADCON program or in association with startup of operations as required. Participates on various emergency response related teams.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree : Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
- This position requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
- Position may require entry into materials access areas (MAAs) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply. The job level will be determined based upon relevant education and experience of selected candidate.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- Preference may be given to candidate with an advanced degree and certification from the American Board of Health Physics.
