We invite you to apply for this job with the Financial Management and Procurement Services (FMPS) organization at Argonne National Laboratory. In this role, you will function as a business systems administrator and analyst for one or more site‑wide business systems supporting FMPS, with emphasis on Workday Financials and related general accounting, payroll, procurement, travel/expense, and reporting solutions. You will determine and develop approaches to solutions and contributes to the planning and delivery of enhancements, integrations, and business process improvements aligned with Laboratory goals.
You will:
- Analyze, configure, test, and implement changes to Workday Financials business processes, security, reports, and integrations to support day‑to‑day operational needs and continuous improvement. 
- Provide expert guidance on Workday Financials to optimize processes and controls, driving efficient and compliant system usage. 
- Monitor and support system integrations and data interfaces (e.g., Workday EIB/Core Connector/Studio, APIs, file transfers) among Workday modules and other SaaS and legacy systems such as Dayforce, ADP, Concur, Coupa; troubleshoot and resolve issues, coordinating with Business Information Services (BIS) and vendors as needed. 
- Identify requirements, draft specifications, develop test plans/scripts, execute functional testing, and support production deployments for upgrades, new functionality, and defect fixes. 
- Respond to customer requests; triage and resolve incidents and service requests; provide guidance on system capabilities and best practices. 
- Train and assist end users and power users on system functionality, new features, and process changes; contribute to training materials and job aids. 
- Represent FMPS on cross‑functional projects; lead workstreams or small projects and provide day‑to‑day guidance to lower‑level personnel. 
- Collaborate with FMPS managers, BIS, system analysts, and functional leads to ensure solutions meet policy requirements, internal controls, and stewardship expectations. 
- Provide ongoing process improvement suggestions for systems and processes; contribute to short‑ and long‑term planning initiatives for applicable business systems. 
- Develop, maintain, and improve financial management reporting in partnership with Laboratory management reporting teams; design and validate queries and reports to meet stakeholder needs. 
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience including demonstrated experience implementing and supporting financial and/or payroll systems, hands on configuration and testing of business processes, security, reports, and integrations. 
- Workday Financials system administration experience in the areas of accounting month-end processes, payroll, project and grant management, sponsor receivables, supplier maintenance and payments, employee reimbursements, business assets, inventory/receiving, and procurement; familiarity with Workday reporting (Report Writer, custom reports), data loads (EIB), Core Connector, and/or Studio; understanding of Workday security concepts and tenant management. 
- Strong knowledge of financial and procurement business processes; understanding of policies, procedures, internal controls, and compliance requirements. Working knowledge of accounting, payroll, and business practices. 
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint).
