Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking to hire a Group Manager for the SRNL Safety & Health (S&H) organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and implementing S&H programs and initiatives. This role involves ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, and leading a team of S&H professionals.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive S&H programs, policies, and procedures to comply with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Oversee and manage S&H audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential risks and ensure adherence to S&H regulations and best practices.
- Lead and mentor a team of S&H professionals, providing direction, support, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate S&H considerations into business operations and decision-making processes.
- Monitor and analyze S&H performance metrics and trends and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
- Ensure timely reporting and communication of S&H incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions to relevant stakeholders.
- Stay current with federal, state, and local S&H regulations and industry standards, and communicate changes to the organization.
- Coordinate and deliver S&H training programs to employees at all levels, ensuring awareness and understanding of S&H policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety, sustainability, and health through proactive engagement and education initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding S&H matters.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field and 8+ years of experience in S&H field and/or programs roles or Master's degree and 6+ years of experience.
- In-depth knowledge of S&H regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for S&H programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in S&H management or serving in a lead role preferred.
- Active DOE Clearance
- Experience working in a National Laboratory
