Responsibilities Include: - Conduct research in areas of specialization. Work with chemicals in a safe manner, following work control processes. - Plan and execute programmatic research. - Work with other scientists and chemists in the development of experimental designs and execution of experiments. - Establish and develop new methods and instrumentation that advance science in area(s) of specialty. - Prepare research papers/reports and technical research proposals. Publish in both classified and unclassified peer-reviewed journals. - Write and submit research proposals that solicit new research and development activities or provide critical services. - Provide programmatic and technical leadership to various groups in area(s) of specialty. - Assist management in the identification of growth areas and the development of department roadmaps that in turn focus strategic investments in facilities, equipment, and most importantly, human capital. - Lead a dynamic team consisting of junior staff, postdoctoral researchers, and other technical staff. - Serve as project lead and/or lead technical roles in multiple tasks or cross-cutting projects in support of INL, the Department of Energy (DOE), other government agencies, and industry. - Research and Development of innovate chemical and/or radiochemical separation techniques. - Research and Development of innovative physical separation techniques. - Laboratory-scale process development. - Analytical technique development. - You will report to the Department Manager.
