Position Overview:
As our Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for supporting facility operations by repairing, installing, and maintaining the buildings systems and equipment.
Location:
On-site in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office
Your Day to Day as a Facilities Maintenance Technician:
- Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of building HVAC systems and controls.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to ensure reliable facility operation.
- Lead or support small facility modification projects, including HVAC, electrical, or plumbing scope, as qualified.
- Interpret schematics, construction drawings, and technical manuals to execute maintenance and repair tasks accurately.
- Maintain HVAC and utility systems serving laboratories, offices, and production areas in compliance with applicable codes.
- Support general facilities maintenance activities including mechanical system upkeep, equipment relocation, and grounds support.
- Operate forklifts, lifts, and other maintenance equipment as needed.
- Occasional off-hours or weekend coverage to support critical facility operations.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required. A degree may substitute for experience.
- EPA 608 refrigeration certification is highly desired. If not certified, the candidate must be willing and able to obtain certification.
- Must demonstrate strong skills in HVAC commissioning and controls troubleshooting.
- Must be proficient with interpreting blueprints and technical documentation.
- Must be comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Must be able to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely written and verbal communication.
- Must possess a strong commitment to safety culture and willingness to ensure compliance to all codes and standards.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma or certificate in HVAC, controls, electrical, or a related field.
- Journeyman, Master, Contractor HVAC license is preferred.
- Prior experience working in a radiological, laboratory, or chemical handling environment.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS/BMS) is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and process management software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Active DOD or DOE security clearance is preferred.

Pay: $54,000.00 - $80,000.00
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $54,000.00 and $80,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
