What You'll Do
The Y-12 National Security Complex is currently recruiting for summer 2026 internship opportunities in Construction Subcontracts Management. Your focus would be to learn the Subcontract Technical Representative (STR) role and aid current STR's in the execution of their duties.
The primary function of an STR is to support the Procurement Subcontract Administrator in the development, administration, and compliance verification during subcontract performance, providing technical direction and clarification to subcontractors, and does not perform procurement of pricing activities. The 2026 intern program is scheduled to start on May 18, 2026 and conclude on July 23, 2026.
The Internship Program is a 10-12 week program that offers challenging assignments, projects, and career development workshops to enhance your professional growth. You will also earn a competitive salary based on your discipline and academic class status.
You will work with a close knit group of dedicated and experienced colleagues, focused on helping each other succeed. You will gain an understanding of Subcontracts Management and coordinating with organizations and disciplines across the site, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management, Project Management, Production Facilities, Safety & Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Compliance, Transportation, Radiological Control, Classification, and Security.

Minimum Job Requirements
- To be considered for the Intern position, you must be working toward or have completed a degree in engineering or construction related field. Students who have graduated are eligible up to two years post graduation. In addition, you must have completed (at a minimum) your sophomore year in college, have an overall GPA (grade point average) of 3.0/4.0 or above, and be a United States Citizen.
