SRNL’s Environmental and Legacy Management Directorate (ELM) is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Senior Manager for the Glass, Cement, & Ceramic Science group.
This leadership position provides oversight of personnel who support crosscutting research and developmental activities. Candidate will also demonstrate experience with laboratory facility management for safe and secure mission execution, proposal development in the materials and industrial energy efficiency space, managing and leading employees to deliver high performance results, fostering and maintaining a collaborative work environment, assisting leadership in the development of strategic growth plans, external customer engagement, and general understanding of DOE nuclear processes.
Responsibilities
Achieves goals by directing, guiding & managing others work. Management responsibilities include performance appraisals, budget, pay reviews, training & development. Accountable for people, setting direction & deploying resources; typically, is responsible for performance evaluation, pay reviews, etc.

- Understands the role of the job and how it fits in the goals of directorate.
- Expertise in their discipline
- Assesses circumstances using experience and a variety of information gathered.

Qualifications
Min Qualifications:
- B.S. in Chemistry, Physicist, Material Science, or Engineering disciples, with 6+ yrs. experience.
- Ability to obtain and hold a Q security clearance for which U.S. citizenship is legally required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal communications both oral and written, along with problem solving skills.
- Relevant experience working in DOE National Laboratories.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced development environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.
- Active DOE Clearance preferred.

About The Team
SRNL’s Environmental & Legacy Management (ELM) Directorate closely collaborates with the Department of Energy (DOE) and site contractors to develop, mature, and apply science and technology needed to resolve environmental challenges and advance legacy management missions. As the lead laboratory for Environmental Management (DOE-EM) and Legacy Management (DOE-LM), SRNL applies our talent and expertise to develop and deploy innovative approaches and technologies to reduce risk, cost, and schedule of environmental cleanup and nuclear material processing. Additionally, ELM is using our competencies to develop new materials and processes for a range of clean energy applications.
