What You'll Do
Job Responsibilities
The Project Manager will be a member of the Project Management (PM) Organization and report to the Director, Commercial Projects.
Responsible for execution of the medium to high risk and complexity approved project scopes of work or up to $50M, within cost and on schedule. Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
Directs project management activities for planning and execution of new commercial like projects to meet plant and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) policies and guidelines. Manages and directs the day-to-day activities of one or more projects including the formulation of the project team, development of project execution plans including resource-loaded schedules, subcontracts and direct hire execution. Ensures effective communications exists with and among projects for which they are responsible. Maintains project documentation and provides status reports. Responsible for execution of project tasks within plans. Briefs senior managers at least monthly on project activities, cost, schedule, and technical performance. Exercises initiative and independent judgement and discretion under limited supervision.
Job Knowledge
Position requires knowledge of and experience in planning, executing, and managing engineering and construction projects. Experience utilizing various procurement strategies. Demonstrated successful project execution. Ability to lead a diverse staff to meet organizational goals and customer expectations. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable project management processes and control systems including Earned Value Management. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in reporting to customers and stakeholders. Ability to work with personnel at all levels across the organization and external stakeholders. Ability to identify a problem, and drive resolution to completion.
Ability to manage and direct the activities of technical and administrative project personnel; ability to identify and develop required resources to support project schedules; ability to logically and systematically evaluate project and process problems to determine appropriate solutions; ability to interface with internal and external customers, including management, users and DOE, NNSA and NPO.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Typical relevant experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
- OR Master’s degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience. Typical relevant experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
- OR 13 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Project Manager for commercial projects including but not limited to warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and office buildings with values between $10-$50 million dollars.
- Have experience working with design firms from conception of projects through delivery to end user.
- Experience managing commercial-type projects on the DOE or DOD complexes is preferred, but not required.
- Experience working on projects that have a robust safety culture.
- Ability to interpret and support development of schedules.
- Ability to understand design drawings and supporting technical documentation
- Ability to review and support development of estimates.
- Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office products.
- Demonstrated skills in planning, organization, and schedule compliance.
- Requires excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, a high level of personal motivation, high standards, and the ability to work with the team and support organizations to address/resolve project issues and meet short deadlines.
