Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Software Infrastructure Developer to work in our Scientific Computing & AI Division. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. The Scientific Computing & AI Division leads research into the application of AI & data-driven design techniques towards accelerating the design and construction timelines of advanced energy projects, as well as optimizing operations with the energy industry. The division focuses on changing the way project personnel author and manage engineering data, building digital engineering ecosystems to connect this data, and leveraging emerging software technologies to increase intelligent automation across the project lifecycle. This group consists of engineers and scientists with backgrounds in both traditional engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, etc.) and software development, collectively committed to securing our energy future by eliminating repetitive and time consuming tasks currently bottlenecking engineering, construction, and operational workflows. Responsibilities Include: - Apply software engineering principles, theories, and concepts to complex cloud-based systems. - Deploy new applications on INL cloud computing infrastructure in development, test, and production regions. - Plan, develop and implement software-engineering and cloud computing infrastructure solutions to complex problems and major projects. - Work to support project plans and requirements, establish scope, cost and schedule estimates for design and development activities. - Participate in technical reviews for projects at various phases of development and provide recommendations for computer technology solutions to customers and management’s needs. - Maintain and upgrade a variety of cloud-based systems, as well as develop new software capabilities. - Create and review new methodologies and architectures that advance the organizations’ mission. - Document activities, reports, existing technologies. - Review and analyze source code and system design documentation, reports from users, and other technical artifacts to create reports and present to other staff and management assessments of code quality, the probable origin and implications of defects and anomalies, and recommendations for improvements and enhancements. - Engage in professional development to maintain technical proficiency in current and emerging technologies. - You will report to the Department Manager. - This posting closes: 7/31/25
