Recovery Specialist
We are hiring a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to play a key role in delivering individualized, relationship-based support to individuals and families navigating substance use and recovery. This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in peer recovery, a deep understanding of community systems, and a desire to be part of a bold, forward-moving team redefining what recovery support can look like.
What You’ll Do
- Provide structured, one-on-one support to recovery partners using ACR’s Support Approach: relationship-first, flexible, and rooted in real-world needs.
- Work side-by-side with people to help them navigate complex systems (treatment, legal, housing, medical, family reunification), access services, and build full lives—not just stop a behavior.
- Collaborate with family members and community partners to create circles of sustained support.
- Maintain consistent contact, track progress, and document support activities in alignment with agency expectations.
- Help ensure that ACR’s digital tools and community programming are accessible and meaningful to recovery partners and families.
- Be present in the community—whether that means court programs, family sessions, speaker events, or supporting a recovery partner through a difficult transition.
What You Bring
- Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), or eligible and committed to completing certification within 90 days.
- Lived experience with substance use and a demonstrated commitment to personal recovery and wellness.
- Experience in a peer support role with high levels of independence, professionalism, and accountability.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, flexible environments with shifting needs and opportunities.
- Respect for all recovery pathways, and an ability to engage people without judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and digital communication.
What We’re Building
This isn’t just a job—it’s a movement. ACR is charting the next phase of recovery support: upstream, family-integrated, science-informed, and grounded in trust. We’re doing real work with real people, and we’re committed to showing what’s possible when support is consistent, personal, and built to last.
