The National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) is seeking exceptional candidates for the Data Science and System Integrations (DSSI) division in the Data Acquisition and Detectors (DAD) group working to develop high-level data acquisition tools and support NSLS-II operations.
This includes integrating scientific detectors with the control system, integrating data acquisition tools with the NSLS-II data management system, developing and deploying services, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the NSLS-II beamlines. This role will support both current NSLS-II beamlines and contribute to the development and delivery of the next generation of beamlines from the earliest stages.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manage the process of collecting requirements from stakeholders, generating conceptual designs, implementation, and delivery to operations as maintainable systems new capabilities.
· Work collaboratively on data-oriented software projects to maintain and develop new capabilities for NSLS-II.
· Provide support to other scientific staff and facility users, through both teaching and troubleshooting.
· Develop, deploy, and share responsibility of operations software and hardware solutions to the needs of NSLS-II beamlines.
· Manage a cross-functional team to support beamline operations covering maintenance and responding to incidents.
· Contribute to writing procedures to ensure operational excellence.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science or related technical discipline. Candidates will posses 10 years of relevant experience.
· Experience with Python and Linux
· Demonstrated experience with Project Management and team leadership
· Creative problem solving
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Git and GitHub
· Experience working with ansible and Red Hat Automation platform
· Project Management certification
· Experience with distributed systems and integrating multiple independent systems together
· Experience designing systems for secure data transport
· Ability to receive and maintain DOE security clearances
Brookhaven National Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $170,000 / year. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
