A Student Assistant position will be immediately available in the Interdisciplinary Science Department, Energy Systems Division. The duration of the position will be three months in the summer of 2025 (from May to August 2025). The student is expected to work 40 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The major responsibility of the student will be the performance of power grid modeling and simulation, statistical analysis and machine learning applications in power system control or cybersecurity, and the implementation in Python and Matlab.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Candidates for the position are expected to be Ph.D. or master’s students with training to perform research and development under some guidance.
- The candidates should have a major in electrical engineering, computer science, or applied mathematics.
- A background in electric power systems modeling and simulation and data analytics and machine learning techniques are required.
- Software development skills using programming languages such as Python or Matlab are also required.
- Experience with OPAL-RT will be preferred.
