Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist is an integral member of a deployed HR team supporting multiple service, operations, and scientific organizations in a world class national laboratory amidst a diverse and international population. You will perform professional level duties in multiple functional areas including employee relations, performance management, onboarding, compensation, policy and process implementation, employment law compliance and transaction management.
In this dynamic role the you will:
Administer a variety of complex human resource policies and develop procedures and programs that support the tactical and strategic mission of the assigned area(s)
Communicate, implement, interpret, and apply BNL policies and procedures at all levels of the organization
Assist in the implementation of human resources strategies, programs, and initiatives ensuring compliance with overall BNL guidelines and policies
Communicate HR policies and procedures to all levels of the organization
Provide advice and counsel on a wide variety of HR issues and concerns to management and staff at all levels
Conduct thorough investigations, analyze facts, and prepare final investigation reports
Recommend alternative actions to resolve problems and effect continual improvements
Communicate and maintain compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws and the DOE contract with respect to Human Resources activities
Partner with hiring managers to develop recruitment strategies, write job descriptions, source candidates, and attend job fairs
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree Human Resource Management or a related discipline with a HR core curriculum or equivalent education/experience on the basis of 2:1 (years:experience) directly related progressively responsible experience
A minimum of 4 years’ full-time experience as a human resources generalist which must include progressively complex, customer-oriented HR service delivery experience.
Requires initiative, determination and excellent consultative skills in order to identify problems in the early stages and provide solutions or referral suggestions
Knowledge of federal employment law, knowledge of state, and local laws and their impact on human resources issues
Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, conceptualize solutions, and communicate effectively with management and staff
Strong HR and business knowledge which influences management teams in their decision making
Excellent oral and written communication and excellent interpersonal, coaching, and presentation skills
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and accurately with close attention to detail
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Workday or similar Human Resources Management systems

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Masters’ Degree in Human Resources Management
Full-life cycle recruitment experience
HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP)
Experience providing HR support in a scientific, highly technical or highly regulated environment
Experience working for a federal contractor

Brookhaven National Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $80300 - $100000 / year. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
