Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Fusion Research Scientist to work in our Nuclear Science & Technology team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Advanced Test Reactor Complex facility with every Friday off. This position conducts experimental and analytical work supporting the Fusion Safety Program. Experimental contributions span all areas of experimental activities conducted at the Safety and Tritium Applied Research (STAR) facility with a focus on experimental facilities that investigate tritium behavior in materials (permeation, retention, desorption). This position supports a broad range of exciting projects related to advanced reactor technology and fusion energy. Responsibilities Include: - Chosen candidate will conduct research and development activities that advance the state of the art as well as participate in multiple programs. - Participation in development of research projects planning by contributing to project planning and review meetings. - Assist in the design, assembly, and operation of unique and custom laboratory experiments. - Support the operation and interpretation of results from the fusion safety computational capabilities. - Meet environmental, health, and safety goals, and perform all work in an environmentally safe and compliant manner. - Publishing in peer-reviewed journals and participating in conference activities.
