OverviewThe Facilities & Infrastructure Operations Division is responsible for plant engineering, plant energy and utility operations, and facility operations for the South campus and leased facilities, North Campus and Infrastructure Operations, the Physical Science facility, and the 300 Area. In addition, the Division oversees campus infrastructure such as fabrication and craft services, duplicating and mail services, relocations, receiving, distributed services, and maintains operations of roads, grounds, and utilities for the campus. The role of the 325 Building Radiochemical Processing Laboratory (325RPL) Planner/Junior System Engineer is to develop work control documents and associated permits. In addition, they will provide assistance to 325RPL System Engineers in maintaining operations and sustainability of the facility.
ResponsibilitiesThe individual is expected to be a resource for maintenance planning related to nuclear facility operations. They must be able to use creative or unique methods to determine long-term scope, schedule, cost estimates, and input to 325RPL work planning. They should integrate the operation and planning supporting the long-term operation of the nuclear facility. An engineer with facility systems experience for maintaining components, system, and structures is preferred. The position requires the ability to build consensus by articulating the strategic requirements for operation of a nuclear facility. Excellent verbal and written skills should be evident, and applicable to projects unique to the facility. Work is performed independently with minimal direction. The candidate must be capable of managing projects with minimal conflicts to schedule, procedures, or policy implementation. The individual will qualify as a member of the Building Emergency Response Organization.
Prepare work planning documents in accordance with organizational work control procedures and DOE O 433.1. Scope includes preparation of necessary permits (Lockout/Tagout, Critical Lift, Confined Space, Fall Protection, etc), development of work steps, and scheduling resources.
Planner will collaborate with responsible system engineers to ensure work scope and post maintenance testing is appropriate.
Assist in development and maintenance of procedures for system operation during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions, which includes the following: surveillance procedures; methods used to perform predictive and preventive maintenance; failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) documents.
Maintain Maximo asset/component lists, equipment labeling, and key drawings.
Support the 325RPL Management Core Team in maintaining a culture of technical excellence and leadership.
Perform short and long term scheduling of corrective and preventive work activities.
Perform Periodic System and Program Assessment.
Provide daily direction to facility staff in the following areas:
Performance of building modifications.
Review of working documents (i.e., project planning documents, facility modification permits, and engineering change notices).
Verification of the operational status of the building systems.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- BS/BA and 2+ years of relevant work experience -OR-
- MS/MA or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with work control planning documents and development of work control permits.
- Experience related to Nuclear Operations.
- Knowledge of facilities operations and maintenance practices, DOE Orders, and Standards, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment- This position requires the incumbent to be Rad Worker II qualified, as the position will involve entry into radiological areas.
Additional InformationThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.
