The Radiological Protection division invites you to consider applying for our Health Physics Technician opening. In this role, you will provide field and laboratory support for the Radiological Protection Program. You will measure, assess, and document radiological conditions in the workplace. Position Requirements
- Some knowledge of radiation monitoring instruments and equipment and ability to interpret results is desirable. There should be demonstrated interest in science which should include course work in science, engineering and/or mathematics.
- Completion of DOE mandated radiological training and on-going continuous education coursework, as specified, is a requirement for this position. The DOE requires a Core Exam that must be passed within 2 months of date of hire, this is a condition of employment.
- Interpersonal and communication skills required to interact effectively and tactfully with internal customers and to successfully develop effective working relationships.
- Science or technology related bachelor's degree
- Ability to model Argonne’s core values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.
Preferred Skills
- Some experience in customer service environment
- Some experience with Dosimetry
This role will be hired as a Health Physics Technician II
- This level of skill is typically attained through completion of a Bachelor's degree with 2 or more years of related experience, or equivalent.
This is a union position. The hourly wage is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between the union and Argonne. As a Health Physics Technician II the minimum rate is $38.46 and the maximum is $40.46.
