Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is hiring a Project Engineer to support ongoing and future capital asset projects within the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Projects division. Our team works a 4x10 schedule with every Friday off. Responsibilities Include: INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for the United States Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication, and post irradiation analysis. MFC is plays a important role in supporting the National Reactor Innovation Center, which provides resources for testing, demonstration, and performance assessment to accelerate the deployment of new, advanced nuclear technology concepts. You will be responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines needed to complete a project. Works to plan projects, establish project criteria, coordinate project reviews, and ensure the proper implementation of project elements. Responsible for the application of engineering principles to ensure safe turnover of System, Structure, Component (SSC). · Function as the primary technical point of contact to assist the Project Manager (PM) with the project process from initiation though closure. Lead multidisciplinary teams performing applied engineering and design as required to support technical deliverables associated with the contracting process. These duties include acting as chairman/organizer for design reviews, verification walk-downs and constructability reviews. · Function as lead for collection, review and disposition of vendor data items associated with project deliverables. · Provide technical leadership for the project engineering team, including decision-making that affects project outcome in conjunction with Project Management (PM) inputs. · Analyze and evaluate data, report results, and validate design inputs as needed to ensure project success. · Review progress and evaluate results of internal and subcontracted resources with the PM. · Serve as a technical consultant for significant and technically complex activities associated with engineering designs and specifications and other deliverables (ECAR, F&OR, T&FR, etc.). · Develop and implement project inputs (scope, technical, and functional requirements), project strategy (delivery method, cost, schedule, contract award process) with the assigned PM. · Gather and analyze project risks to formulate initial risk register when required. · Provide technical management and oversight of engineering services subcontracts working with the Construction Field Representative (CFR), Subcontractor Superintendent and PM. · Support and participate in the decision-making process. · Assist the PM and team to ensure that all products and outcomes meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the customer. · Manage project and system configuration control from initiation through commissioning. · Comply with BEA engineering procedures. · Provide technical direction and enhance technical and professional skills through directing, mentoring, and training of other staff and other Project Engineers and managers. · May mentor engineering staff regarding project engineering roles and responsibilities.
