A Traffic Operations Representative is needed to systematically improve traffic safety and compliance through inspection, analysis, application, verification and enforcement of Federal Highway Administration, United States and Tennessee Department of Transportation, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration codes and regulations. Y-12 National Security Complex has 5 traffic signals and with traffic volume similar to an urban city center with pedestrian, personal, government and commercial motor vehicle interaction.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.
- OR Master’s degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.
- OR 10 years or more experience in a variety of roles providing traffic operations safety and compliance support, design and technical knowledge of requirements and regulations associated with the Federal Highway Administration, United States and Tennessee Department of Transportation, or a related municipality service maybe considered in lieu of education.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as land use planning or civil / traffic engineering with 7 to 10 years experience.
- OR master's degree in a technical field such as land use planning or civil / traffic engineering with 4 to 7 years experience.
- Attention to detail and assertive in requiring compliance to such regulations.
- Communicates clearly and timely without intimidation and hostility any findings required for improvement.
- Inspection, design or enforcement experience of Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Device requirements and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Experience entering inspection reports and tracking and resolving deficiencies. A significant track record of successfully performing technical functions related to transportation compliance verification.
- Certified Signal Timing Technician or Certified Traffic Operations Engineer is preferred.
- Specialized knowledge of the DOE / NNSA Integrated Safety Management System, CFR 851, OSHA, FMCSA and FHA requirements.
- Certifications related to Traffic Operations and Commercial Motor Vehicle Compliance including signal timing, AASHTO, MUTCD, CVSA or TTAP course work.
- Previous leadership role supporting municipality traffic operations including oversize shipments.
