NSLS-II Electrical Design Group has an opening for a Principal Drafter for a 2-year term position. Reporting to the Design Group Supervisor, the candidate will perform drafting duties in support of NSLS-II Accelerator Division. This position will require close interaction with technicians, engineers and scientific staff. The main task will be to provide electro-mechanical drafting, document revision control, and library creation/management, using a variety of CAD/CAM platforms. Tasking will also include provision of drafting support for development and special project initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- CAD library creation/management
- Create and maintain Schematic and PCB Symbols per IPC-2221
- Experience with ECN Processes (Engineering Change Notification)
- Ability to work directly with scientific, engineering and technical staff
- Maintain and implement safety practices and procedures applicable to daily activities
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus:
- A technical institute, Adult BOCES certification, AA degree in a technical field, CCI program completion at BNL plus 2 years’ experience or;
- A technical high school certification program and 3 years relevant work experience or;
- 4 years’ relevant work experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Some knowledge of AutoCAD Design Software
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of technical staff
- Overtime may be requested at times
Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:
- Occasional work at heights, extreme temperature, confined space, oxygen deficiency, radiation areas, static magnetic fields, on scaffolding and ladders
- Must be able to complete tasks repeatedly
- Must have ability to view color, depth perception and hearing
