What You'll Do
As software coordinator you will be responsible for completing Software Quality Assurance (SQA) requirements for software used by Mission Engineering and assisting with SQA for applications used by Operations to control factory machines or processes. The software ranges from commercial off-the-shelf to specialty in-house developed computer code. You will work with the Quality, Information Systems and Solutions (IS&S), Cyber Security, Records, Training, Procurement Engineering organizations and with the software subject matter expert (SME) performing the following activities:
- Maintain Software Management (SMan) inventory.
- Initiate new software and version upgrade evaluations.
- Coordinate software change requests and version releases.
- Assist with quality level determinations.
- Determine records retention requirements.
- Complete cyber security risk analysis evaluation and documentation.
- Complete retirement activities for software no longer used.
- Assist with the completion of any additional software quality assurance deliverables.
- Develop training documentation for defining software use, constraints and identifying qualified users.
- Work with Training to maintain required training documentation in Learning Management System (LMS).
- Perform license usage evaluations that will be used for planning/tracking annual budgets for software procurements.
- Work with Supplier Quality to maintain active Quality Approved Supplier List (QASL) status for Quality Assurance certified software.
- Work with Procurement Engineering Group (PEG) establishing Commercial Grade Dedication documentation as required.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/science discipline from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- OR a Master’s degree in in an engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA and a minimum 0 years of relevant experience
- OR a PhD in an engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and 0 years of relevant experience
- There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript
- Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative)
- DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment
- In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities (Ref. DOE O 426.2)
Preferred Job Requirements
- Typical experience ranges from six to fifteen plus years.
- Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related engineering systems, applications of engineering methods, and engineering application of computers
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to various engineering disciplines Ability to apply technical skills of engineering; ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other stakeholders; ability to review projects for technical accuracy; ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word
- Solid background in disciplines that focus on Computer Science and IT Architecture
- Experience in applying Design, Product, Process, and System Engineering principles
- Experience leading teams of multi-disciplinary professionals
- Experience gathering requirements, developing project plans, budgets, and identifying and managing risks related to assigned projects
- Familiarity with concepts related to human factors, configuration management, database solutions, data management, product life cycle management, system reliability, electronic procedures, and human interfaces Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong desire to learn new concepts, seek out state of the art software and process solutions, and implement process improvements with minimal disruption to ongoing operations
