Dimensional Inspector (Multiple Openings) - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH
We are currently seeking qualified applicants to fill multiple dimensional inspection roles at our facility in Barberton, Ohio. Individuals selected for these positions will make any/all types of QCDI inspections (to include true position, flatness, concentricity, parallelism, profiles, finish, etc.) in all shop areas and Material Services with a minimum of supervision. In addition, dimensional inspectors will:
- Locate and move material with necessary equipment as required.
- Clean and remove minor burrs or upset metal as required to facilitate inspection.
- Set up and use machining center for inspections. Set up and operate the vision system.
- Work from a variety of written and supporting data as required.
- Inspect any and all products and component parts to assure all quality requirements. Identify, tag, accept or reject: make sketches and complete report of inspection forms.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and printed material descriptions of any complexity. Generate any and all necessary documentation. Verify the completeness of shop and inspection operations and non-destructive tests when required.
- Develop and implement new inspection methods and procedures to suit unique conditions. Lay out and make templates as required for inspection.
- Use any and all types of precision measuring equipment and gages. Contact all levels of engineering and management to resolve issues.
- Work with BWXT, customer, or government inspectors as required.
- Must be able to intelligently convey the results of inspections to shop supervision, engineers and/or customer representatives.
- Witness hydro testing as required and records results.
- Inspect bonded storage to assure traceability. Check stored material and equipment to assure proper identity, storage and preservation.
- Inspect trucks and trailers for safe load conditions. Input and receive information through computer terminals as required. Required to climb.
Minimum Requirements:
In order to thrive in this role, candidates must possess the skills and experience necessary to safely and efficiently perform the required operations. Accordingly, successful candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalence, with a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in dimensional inspection being preferred. Equivalent relevant machining experience may be considered in lieu of dimensional inspection experience. Additionally, candidates MUST:
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of GD&T requirements by developing and performing complex calculations that include geometry and trigonometry using books, charts, tables, and other mathematical aids
- Be able to work from prints, process sheets, sketches, BOMs, and any other forms of written and verbal instruction
- Be able to demonstrate proper use of precision measuring devices such as depth micrometers, calipers, height gages, tri-micrometers, etc.
- Be able to verify identity and physical characteristics of materials, as required
- Be able to climb
- Pass quality control tests, including entry examination, as required; may be required to maintain alloy identity, pressure test qualifications along with visual and dimensional qualifications.
- Be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship
- Must be open and available to working all shifts
- Be able to pass all pre-employment processes, including a background check, physical, and reference checks
