About the Role:
Under direct supervision, works along-side of Day Care Attendants, Day Care Administrators or Day Care Teachers for the daily care of an assigned group of children.
What your day-to-day as a Substitute Day Care Teacher at Fermilab will look like:
- Works along-side a Day Care Attendant, Day Care Administrator or Day Care Teacher to establish the care necessary for each child’s needs consistent with their age and stage of development; develops and executes programs and activities designed to encourage the social, physical, and intellectual development of children in the group.
- Ensures the children are adequately fed, rested and physically clean.
- Provides initial instruction and assistance in developing the child’s interest in play and control of physical functions.
- Provide input assessing each child’s development and report perceived problems to the Teacher or Administrator; assists in finding appropriate solutions.
- Monitors and ensures that an appropriate and equal level of physical attention and care is given to each child in a manner consistent with their needs, age and stage of development and that all activities are conducted in an equitable manner.
- Ensures the group of children is exposed to emergency and evacuation procedures through periodic drills and games.
- Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with students' parents and co-teachers and participates in parent conferences when necessary.
- Responsible for the arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness and learning environment of the classroom.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
Skills and Attributes for Success:
- Associate’s Degree with a discipline in Early Childhood or related field and up to 6 months minimum of experience.
- Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
- Minimum of 20 hours in-service/training early childhood
- CPR/First-aid Blood Bourne Pathogen.
Work Arrangement:

- Onsite: This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia office.
