BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group - Lynchburg is currently seeking an Electronics Technician for its Lynchburg, VA location!
The Electronics Technician is responsible for the installation and maintenance on stand-alone computer systems, electronic and electro-mechanical systems, and microprocessor-based systems.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Supports Engineering in the evaluation of systems and on developmental projects.
- Assists in drafting and reviewing functional specifications and acceptance test criteria for new systems.
- Serves as a member of acceptance team as required.
- Assists in drafting preventative maintenance instructions and checklists for equipment.
- Performs alignment procedures per specifications and instructions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent plus six (6) years of practical work experience with current technology OR Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology plus two (2) years of of practical work experience with current technology.
- Must be familiar with CNC/PLC controls (emphasis on Fanuc and A/B; Siemens helpful).
- Must have a working knowledge of shop floor equipment (NC machining centers, Lathes/Mills; and Welding equipment) and the relationship with associated support equipment.
- Must be able to effectively work with hourly and supervisory personnel in the pursuit of technical information and problem solving.
- Must possess a technical curiosity which motivates the study and understanding of new developments.
- Must possess the ability to understand how various systems/sub-systems supported by maintenance relate to their respective functions and the ability to apply theory to practical application.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of electronic symbology and have the ability to interpret schematics and associated drawings/documentation.
- Must be able to demonstrate a mechanical aptitude to fabricate and/or assemble electromechanical systems from layouts and schematics supplied by Engineering.
- Must possess operational knowledge of electronic test equipment.
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Security inspection equipment and/or Security Control systems is helpful.

Pay: $54,000 - $88,000
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $54,000 and $88,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
