Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities
The Information Technology Directorate is looking for a high-performing individual to join our team as a Senior Systems Administrator (Senior Infrastructure Analyst).
Key Responsibilities
- Review and recommend automation products for MSTS’s use across unclassified and classified system and remote site environments.
- Take ownership of technical problems and see them through to resolution, using an advanced knowledge level of established standards, practices, and procedures.
- Provide IT support for Server Operating Systems, including the maintenance of systems: including but not limited to rack mount servers, storage, switches, and Server blades and Chassis.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.
- Assume responsibility for complete lifecycle of infrastructure systems including design, builds, post installation support, and deployments.
- Provide backup and second level coverage to Technical Support Representatives as assigned.
- Document adjustments made to hardware and software as well as provide documentation for new systems as needed.
- Provide support to Data Center environments including site recoverability of the primary data center.
- Monitor System performance and System maintenance work as assigned.
- Perform within change control and ticketing system environment.
- Review or prepare requisitions for acquisition of server and storage related equipment, software, and cable installation.
- Support installation of server hardware, software analysis, and resolution, and wiring.
- Monitor systems performance, capacity, and recommend modifications or enhancements.
- Prepare course material and provide formal and informal training on related systems equipment and software.
- Prepare procedures, documentation, and activity reports.
- May respond to Help Desk requests to support and troubleshoot workstation and server related problems.
- Provide architectural design diagrams and documentation and assess how to implement technologies into the existing infrastructure.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 5 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of technical principles, theories, standards, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge equivalent to an MCSE, VCP with 5 years' experience working on server hardware, software, networking, virtualization, SAN, Azure Cloud and related technologies.
- Azure Cloud experience preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years demonstrated experience in VMware vSphere.
- Experience with Disaster Recovery Technologies.
- Demonstrate a successful project management leadership capability.
- Knowledge with Microsoft Products, Networking, EMC storage, SQL databases, and Oracle is a plus.
- Must be a team player with good customer service skills and the ability to work flexible hours if required.
- Strong end-to-end troubleshooting skills for system, network, or application.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Microsoft Certification preferred.
- The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Sched ule for this position will be 4/10s or 5/8s (subject to change).
- Personnel may be requested by leadership to work in excess of 40 hours per week due to projects, activities, and emergences; critical operational demands may occasionally require off-shift work.
- Participation in after-hours support pool. Requirements include evening and weekend availability.
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2 , “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709 , “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is:
$92,892.80 - $139,339.20.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
