Responsibilities
- Develop high quality detailed design packages, provide engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and provide expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant facilities.
- Preparation of conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and design engineering deliverables.
- Effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team, or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task and will routinely provide input to system engineers and other plant customers.
- Routinely perform walkdowns in the existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel.
- Provide self-performed technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems through the application of established engineering practices, codes, and standards.
- Provide building evaluations and modifications, seismic analyses and rehab, oversight of outside engineering firms, and machine installations.
- Develop structural drawings (plans, sections, and details) for various materials of construction (concrete, steel, masonry, cold-formed steel, timber), structural calculations, equipment anchorage, report preparation, drafting (or oversight of drafting), and preparation of construction specifications (generally in the form of general notes on the drawings).
- Plan, self-perform and/or direct all engineering design team activities on a project which include, but are not limited to: development of detailed project scope, design time-lines, functions and requirements, design basis and criteria, design schedule and tracking, project engineering budget, calculations, research, design review, inter-discipline design coordination, design approval, design change control, specifications, approval of contractor technical and material submittals and field verification of construction compliance to design.
- Perform detailed structural designs for infrastructure modifications which may include minor and major modifications.
- Conduct thorough reviews of AE designs to ensure they meet Pantex requirements and expectations.
- Conduct field walk downs during the planning and construction phases of the project and provide title III support as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A minimum of 10 plus years’ experience of relevant professional experience with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
- Technical expertise and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field of Structural Engineering.
- Must be familiar with consensus design codes.
- Requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees.
- Must be willing to work in a production environment.
- Must be US citizen.
- Successful drug screening.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
Preferred Qualifications
- An active Q clearance.
- 20 plus years of relevant professional experience.
- CAD drafting experience not required but preferred, along with any 3D modelling experience.
- Structural modelling experience with STAAD.Pro also preferred.
