Project Overview
Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.
The UPF project works on a 4/10 schedule. The standard work week is: Monday - Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.
Job Summary
In this role, you will provide automation support to project teams, including setup, training, application use, software quality assurance, reporting, database administration, and close-out activities. You will analyze user requirements, assist with application customization, and test software and program integrations. Your work will help enhance the efficiency of technology for the project team.
Major Responsibilities
Level 1
- Provides automation support to teams on small to medium-sized projects, including setup, training, application use in work-process, software quality assurance and control, reporting, database administration, and close-out of all startup automation software and applications
- Analyzes user requirements and coordinates compliance with work processes
- Assists with software training to startup team members as required
- Tests and assists with data integration of interfaces between software/programs
- Assists with customization of applications as required by project
- Coordinates and prepares meetings, workshops, and presentations as required
Level 2
- Arranges, prepares, and conducts meetings, workshops, and presentations as required
- Supports execution of the project automation plan
- Evaluates and coordinates the implementation of new automation modules and tools
- Supports data integration of new releases of production software/programs
- Customizes applications as required by customer
- Prepares user guides and training material and supports training
- Collects and coordinates and supports performance curves, metrics, trackers, and user feedback to show trends and use in improvements
- Recommends adjustments in coordination with the Project Startup Manager, Project Field Engineer, and Site Manager
Education And Experience Requirements
- Level 1: Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
- Level 2: Requires a Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- In-depth knowledge in the areas of and knowledge of principles and practices related to Construction, startup testing and Turnover.
- Good knowledge of related construction and engineering practices and the economics involved.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria.
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience preparing, presenting, and processing turnover documentation
