GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a Sr. Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer to join our team.
This position is full-time and will serve the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN.

Overview
- Develop, revise, and review Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documentation such as Criticality Safety Evaluations (CSEs), Nuclear Criticality Safety Determinations (NCSDs), Technical Deviations (TDs), and various other NCS technical basis documentation.
- Complete the annually required NCS Operational Reviews as needed.
- Provide daily nuclear facility support as needed.
- Perform facility walkdowns.
- Review NCS requirements and adhere.
- Implement documents.
- Participate at facility Operational Safety Boards among others.
- Provide additional needed support to accomplish the increased mission needs of the NCS Engineering group.
Clearance & Citizenship Requirement
- To be considered, you must have an active or very recently active DOE “Q” Clearance or DoD “Top Secret” Clearance.
- Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.

The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium. Y-12 supports efforts to reduce nuclear proliferation risk and performs work for other government agencies
(energy.gov).

COMPENSATION: GEM does not publish salary ranges on external job boards; all ranges listed are estimates made by vendors and not actual salary ranges. GEM’s offered compensation is dependent on candidates’ education, qualifications, and relevant years of experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related from an accredited university and 20+ years of relevant experience with at least 10 years of DOE / NNSA related work experience.
- Experience in the application of DOE rules, guides, orders, standards, and handbooks including 10CFR 830, Nuclear Safety Management is required.
