Pay Range
$118,290 - $182,388 Annually
$118,290 - $151,932 Annually for the TSS.2 level
$142,050 - $182,388 Annually for the TSS.3 level
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for an IBM DOORs Administrator to directly support the W80-4 Life Extension (LEP) Program and W87-1 Modification (MOD) Program within the Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) group. Your primary focus will be to provide support for a set of high-level technical Systems Engineering activities, administrating requirements management, generating reports/metrics, manipulating data, and transferring data to and from the database. You will be an integral member of a highly dynamic team and will work with technical staff, respond to internal and external partners, apply general knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices to develop, improve, and implement work activities. This position is in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate in support of the Weapon Technologies and Engineering (WTE) Program.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will
- Provide requirements database and analysis support to the W80-4 Life Extension (LEP) and W87-1 Modification (MOD) SE&I group that support product qualification and system certification.
- Troubleshoot moderately complex software problems and identify solutions through research and software modification recommendations.
- Exercise independent judgment to recommend, develop, and/or refine data architectures within IBM Rationale Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) or by determining and using tools based on systems engineering best practices.
- Manage programmatic requirements traceability, recommending and implementing improvements and processes as appropriate.
- Maintain access, agreements, and licensing information for users, following policies and practices.
- Contribute to, update, and/or author documentation needed for database users.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Responsibilities, At The TSS.3 Level
- Collaborate with the requirements teams to analyze requirements sets for clarity, gaps, conflicts, and risk; including providing effective and timely communication to leadership to explain technical or operational information, or to provide advice and recommendations.
- Act as technical resource and point of contact for IBM Rationale DOORS application and administration practices.
- Train and mentor new SE&I staff on established procedures and utilization of DOORS and other relevant systems engineering tools. May oversee the activities of other personnel and/or act in a project leadership role.
Qualifications
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering Technology or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated competency of the IBM Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) application, particularly administration functions.
- Ability to create process scripts in the DOORS Extension Language (DXL) and implement them in the application to automate tasks.
- C/C++ programming, plus associated software including MS Office, with the ability to learn new software applications.
- Experience with the development and maintenance of database design, architecture, and management.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a technical support environment, collaborating with others, and recommending process improvements.
Additional Qualifications At The TSS.3 Level
- Significant experience with Systems Engineering practices and processes including but not limited to functional and system analysis, allocation, traceability, and verification/validation associated with requirements management.
- Advanced level knowledge of and significant experience with all functions of the IBM DOORS application.
- Advanced verbal and written communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills, necessary to effectively present, explain, and advise team members and management within the LLNL weapons program.
- Experience working independently and responsively to changing priorities and the ability to adapt to and meet established and/or revised deadlines.
Qualifications We Desire
- Broad knowledge of Laboratory policies and practices and applicable NNSA orders.
- Knowledge of NNSA’s Defense Programs Business Process Systems and NAP-401.1A.
- Experience working in the NNSA Nuclear Weapons Enterprise.
- Experience with LLNL’s operations and business processes.
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
- INCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification.

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
