Job Description
The Global Security Directorate is seeking a Counterintelligence Officer (CIO) to work within the office of our Counterintelligence department. Selected candidate will assist in handling organizational concerns via advanced problem-solving techniques requiring logic, sequential reasoning, and a methodical approach. Conduct assessments/inquiries/investigations concerning intelligence activities to determine the existence of clandestine relationships, contacts with foreign intelligence services or other hostile activities directed against DOE facilities, technologies, information, or personnel, conducted pursuant to the Department of Energy Procedures for Intelligence Activities, approved by the Attorney General and Secretary, DOE, 2017. Tackles critical large-scale issues using rationale thinking and reasoning. Reinforces partnerships internally and Externally that could lead to growth opportunities' for the Savannah River Site.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, inquiries, and investigations to determine the risk to SRS and DOE.
- Ensure SRS personnel, technologies and facilities are protected from foreign intelligence services.
- A substantial understanding of Department of Energy and the United States Intelligence Community (USIC) statues, orders, policies, and procedures.
- Must possess accomplished writing and interpersonal skills.
- Must be capable of preparing threat assessments, various CI products, and provide threat briefing to SRS leadership and personnel.
- Participate in various working groups and task forces to build partnerships and expand your expertise within our area of operations.
- Liaison with all levels of DOE, SRS, USIC, and law enforcement partners to share intelligence to resolve national security issues regarding threat and risk.
- Communicates at a high level and can negotiate on a broad spectrum of matters.
- Understands how the functions integrate into the directorate and the strategic concept behind corporate goals.
- Wide range of understanding of multiple disciplines.
- Takes advantage of wide-spread support within the directorate to elevate important proposals and projects.
- Does not manage employees but may mentor and/or train subordinates.
- Sponsors transformation for the directorate.
- Arrives at decision using analytical thought and processes.
- Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards. Maintains appropriate level government security clearance.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 10-12 years experience working National Security, Counterintelligence, Cyber, and/or Counterterrorism.
- Must possess an active TS clearance and be eligible for a DOE Q and SCI level access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree with 12+ years experience working in National Security, Counterintelligence, Cyber, and/or Counterterrorism.
- Experience integrating policy that fuses cybersecurity into counterintelligence operations.
- Expert knowledge of Department of Energy’s cyber counterintelligence program.

The Global Security Directorate (GSD) of SRNL provides a team focused on staff development and infrastructure upgrades for nuclear reprocessing science and technology programs at SRNL.
