Job Description
The SRNL Joint Appointment Program Coordinator serves as the subject matter expert for the joint appointment program at SRNL, a growing program to support university engagement on SRNL technical mission work. Successful individuals will need to work both independently and collaboratively with SRNL researchers, general counsel, university faculty, business support teams, laboratory research management, and laboratory leadership.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary interface with internal and external (university) stakeholders on joint appointments, working with general counsel to negotiate legal agreements and guiding the development of joint appointment agreements;
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of policies and processes related to the joint appointment program supported by key metrics;
- Maintain close communications with the SRNL researchers, joint appointees, their respective universities, and associated SRNL R&D management;
- Partner with SRNL Communications to develop and maintain external communication products on the joint appointment program;
- Interface with SRNL General Counsel and R&D management to develop and renew contracts for joint appointees;
- Monitor the status of established joint appointment contracts, including requesting periodic status reports from joint appointees;
- Obtain, assess, and act on feedback provided by university partners and the SRNL community on the program;
- Obtain, assess, and maintain performance metrics on the joint appointment program;
- Work with the SRNL leadership team to resolve any issues associated with core competency alignment, reporting, conflict of interest, intellectual property, or other requirements;
- Develop and update program descriptions and training/communication materials for both internal and external audiences;
- Organize events to enhance joint appointee relationships with SRNL;
- Perform other related duties and participate on special projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Works safely with particular attention to quality.
- For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required.
- BS/BA in a technical field + 7-9 yrs. Advanced degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- The ideal candidate is task-oriented, organized, detail-oriented, innovative, and a clear communicator;
- The individual must be comfortable interacting with technical subject matter experts in the laboratory and working on administrative, process improvement, and problem-solving activities;
- The individual must understand the value of research collaborations and be able to communicate effectively on both scientific and business topics;
- The individual should have some legal and regulatory knowledge and excellent writing and grammar skills;
- Direct experience in program administration, preferably at an academic institution, is strongly desired;
- Ability to work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team, manage multiple tasks and apply independent analysis and critical thinking are desired;
- Ability to communicate on scientific and/or technical topics is desired;
- Experience and ability to utilize collaborative work platforms within the Office 365 Suite, such as SharePoint and Teams is preferred to communicate information efficiently and asynchronously.
