Pay Range
$113,790 - $141,276 Annually
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for a
Technical Documents & Permits Lead position. This is a working lead position that provides day to day leadership of the Technical Documentation and Permit coordinators. You will provide leadership to successfully enable the technical coordination, documentation, and identification of facility electrical and mechanical equipment for the purpose of configuration management and preventive maintenance. You will also have oversight of the permitting process, holding approval authority for final release of permits. This position is in the Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Department within the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) Directorate.
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
You will
- Provide advanced technical and administrative oversight and leadership of Technical Documentation and Permit coordinator activities. Prioritize, plan and direct daily activities to ensure efficient execution and completion of work.
- Interpret technical procedures, standards, and guidelines; supporting review and redefining processes when needed.
- Solve complex technical problems pertaining to the technical documentation of facility related systems.
- Conduct meetings in support of training, collaboration, and communication needs. Function as the primary source of contact for technical guidance to customers.
- Conduct audits to ensure work is being executed and completed in accordance with set standards and procedures.
- Review and provide final authorizing release of low voltage outage, soil excavation, and penetration permits.
- Develop and provide metric reports to supervisor and management.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Safety, & Health (ES&H) and Security requirements and LLNL policies and procedures; resolve and report hazards or potential hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in an electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Advanced technical skills, knowledge and understanding of electrical and/or mechanical structures and systems and how they work together as well as the standards, procedures and techniques related to equipment systems and documentation.
- Experience leading teams on technical efforts; ability to mentor others in specific on-the-job training. Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprint drawings and experience with Safety policies and procedures.
- Effective analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills necessary to evaluate, interpret, recommend and implement solutions to complex technical problems and documentation of building systems.
- Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions and conflicting/changing priorities, as well as plan and organize work while maintaining schedules and timeliness.
- Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines.
- Experience with personal computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS or configuration management software.
Qualifications We Desire
- Knowledge of DOE O430.1C, Real Property Asset Management.
- Experience with a CAD-type software oriented to 2D and 3D modeling.

Site 300
Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis
).
Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
Pre-Employment Drug Test
